In Memoriam of Tim Wolf
(1984-2007)

Hawai'i and the Japan West All-Stars at the 1999 Warburg Pincus Hawi'i Lacrosse InvitationalThe Hawaii Lacrosse Club lost another dear member of its Ohana. Tim Wolf passed away as a result of a boating accident on February 19, 2007.

Tim joined the Hawaii Lacrosse Club last year when he transferred to the University of Hawaii from Springfield College (Mass.) where he played Defense. Tim made fast friends with all he met on the field and off, and quickly became one of the most popular players on the team. He was a hard-hitting, hard-playing, highly skilled D-man, and the Attack and Middies were always wary of his footsteps coming. He thrived on the field (even despite his legendary mass consumption of malasadas prior to game time), and he thrived off the field with his humor, his passion for the game, and his huge heart.

Tim was hardly a one-sport or one-dimensional guy. He pursued his other interests as passionately as he did lacrosse, and spent much time sailing, kiteboarding, and socializing with his friends.

He lived his life to the absolute fullest with a huge smile on his face and nothing but the best intentions in his heart.

Words cannot express how much we will miss Tim. We will remember him with every big hit, every ball bounced, every glass raised, and most importantly every smile we crack. The Hawaii Lacrosse Club sends its deepest, heartfelt sympathies to Tim’s family and friends.

Please help us celebrate Tim’s far too short time with us here with your comments below.

Aloha.

I always remember him arriving at the field with his sunglasses on and even though he was still hungover from last night he'd always be down to play. Somehow this guy would just perk up the second he threw his helmet on and hit the field. Us young guys always played defense together and somehow we'd always get stuck playing Harry, Jay-bird and Yosh. They certainly gave us a run for our money but this helped us to improve our game. It's gonna be lonely out there without Tim on Defense with me. I was really just getting to know him and he was just at my party having a Guinness with me the friday before he passed away. I'm gonna miss you buddy, I wish we had more time together.

I did not know Timmy, however my thoughts and sincere condolences go to the Wolf ohana for their loss. Words cannot take away the pain that runs deep or bring Timmy back, but the memories that you've shared with him will last forever and within those memories, he will live forever...

I had the pleasure of playing lacrosse for 2 years with Tim at Springfield College. Late in our freshman season as we were getting ready for the NCAA D-3 tournament coach called a practice on a Sunday morning the night before it was to happen. I had gotten to know Tim really well and we became really good friends, so I knew that he'd been at a big party that evening. So when he showed up late to practice reeking of booze, cigarettes, and steak and cheese I couldn't help but laugh. Everywhere he went, everyone he touched, his smile and passion for life was infectious. It's hard to put into words what we are all feeling at this time. But the best words will come from our best memories of him. I know that he'd want to be remembered this way. We'll miss you bro.

Of all people in the world Tim, You are of the least deserving of such a tragedy. You were a wonderful person, a great boyfriend, and an ever better Friend. Im sorry I never got the chance to say the things to you that I should have said. I will love and miss you always.

this is what i originally came up with, i dont think i can say it any better than this...Tim wolf was more than a great guy, when you saw his smile you knew he meant business, it was absolutely contagious. That is one of the things that will be remembered by all, the classic Tim Wolf smile, laugh, and golden curls that will never be forgotten. As I type this I'm looking at a picture of Tim in his element, in a toga with a mug in one hand and a huge smile on his face. The first time I met Tim, Mark and I were walking back from the corner of University and Dole, just having been dropped off by Rudy after coaching in Waipahu. Our sticks in our hands, we met and exchanged names, this kid said he played at Springfield College, we weren't too sure if we would see him again, but the very next week there he was right out on the field just like he said. After that weekend we became friends and I saw what Timmy was all about, he really was a jack of all trades. I have seen him transition from lacrosse to kite surfing to fixing his car all in one day even fitting in sailing when there was time. And he would still have enough energy to bounce that lacrosse ball all over our floor, aaannd still have enough of a voice left to scream and yell so loud while he played that baseball video game that it kept me from studying. On weekends, he could transition from party to party, and still have enough energy to hang out at 3 am. There was never a day when Tim Wolf didn't live life to the absolute fullest with a huge smile on his face and nothing but the best intentions in his heart. Timmy Wolf is someone who will never ever be forgotten, and who's spirit lives on with every glass raised, every big hit delivered, every lacrosse ball bounced, and most importantly every smile we crack.

Dearest LAX Friends of Tim:

It is so wonderful to read your tributes and comments about Tim. Of course, he was precious to me and his family, and we thought he was the best! But to hear that you saw some of the same wonderful qualities in him that we did--his smile, zest for life, love of Hawaii and the water, determination, etc., validates our memories and love for him. Know that each of you was valued by Tim. He was so happy to find a group of people to add to his circle and to play LAX with. He really loved the game, loved to hit, and I know that he would have made a great teacher and coach some day. The thing that sustains me and our family right now is that Tim was "living the life," loving every minute of his time in Hawaii. Until the time he passed from us, he was in the water, having fun. I have many pictures of him around me now--big, broad smile and those curly locks (which I had "suggested" might be trimmed). Last Tuesday, I received a birthday present sent to me by Tim so that I would receive it on or before my birthday. It was a picture album of his latest "exploits." Although difficult to view the first time, it is now such a comfort. I can see from the pics that Tim's kiteboarding skills have progressed since I saw him doing it last. His roommate told us how excited he was to go out on the catamaran to work that Sunday and how much he was looking forward to playing LAX on Sunday afternoon. I was blessed to have such a wonderful son--one not afraid to say "love ya, Mom", no matter who was overhearing his conversation. Thank you all for the important
parts you played in his life.

Sincerely,

TO THE FAMILY OF TIM WOLF;
YOU DO NOT KNOW ME AND I REALLY DID NOT KNOW TIM EXCEPT WHEN KATHARINE FLEMING, WHOM I WORK WITH) USE TO TELL ME STORIES OF TIM AND HIS MOM. I REMEMBER THE DAY AFTER WORK THAT SHE WENT TO THE AIRPORT TO SEE HIM OFF WHEN HE FIRST LEFT FOR HAWAII, AND HOW HE MET HER AT THE TRAIN STATION WHEN SHE CAME TO VISIT THE FAMILY AND HE RAN UP TO HER AND GAVE A HUG AND HOW KATHARINE ALWAYS TALK ABOUT WHAT A WONDERFUL AND FRIENDLY YOUNG MAN HE WAS AND ALL THE WONDERFUL TIMES SHE HAD WHEN VISITING THE FAMILY. THEN I SAW THE SADNESS BUT SUCH LOVE IN HER VOICE AND EYES WHEN HEARING OF HIS PASSING. SHE SHARED HER SORROW BUT MOST OF ALL HER WONDERFUL MEMORIES OF TIM WITH US ALL AT WORK. OUR HEARTS WENT OUT TO KATHARINE BUT MOST OF ALL TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. I WANT TO EXTEND MY DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO YOU AND YOUR WHOLE FAMILY. MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND I WILL ALWAYS KEEP YOU IN MY PRAYERS. My family and I have come out for the Invitational Tournament for past years and I had the honour of playing on Tim's team this year and his energy and enthusiasm was so exhilarating and infectous that he drove me to play harder and stronger than I have played for a long time. He was always smiling and cracking jokes and was a genuine person to be around. I am positive that he will always be remembered and I hope that in the years to come when visiting Hawaii I will always find someone with his personality and spirits to play with at the tournament. All my best to Tim's family and friends (of whom I wish I am included). Lastly I would like to say I had the time of my life in Hawaii thanks to Tim and he will never be forgotten.

I met Tim on a set of bleachers at the '05 Hawaii Tournament. He was taking it all in and looked eager to get into the action. I told him we're always looking for players, and he seemed stoked to join the club. And as soon as we started up in '06 Tim was there like clockwork. I like that Tim said he would play, and he actually showed up consistently. This dude had integrity. One weekend I'll never forget, he came straight from a night of camping on the westside to Kapiolani Park. I don't think Tim got much sleep that night, but when he showed up he was rockin' the aviators and a big smile. He understood that when a game was scheduled, you got your ass to the field and played ball.

Thing spring the high school lacrosse league was looking for coaches and I thought Tim would be a great fit to work with the Punahou team. I asked Tim if he wanted to coach, and he gladly accepted the opportunity to help. I was excited because Tim knew what the game of lacrosse is all about and would have a lot of knowledge to pass onto the players. I even talked to him about his teaching goals, and mentioned that Hawaii would be really lucky if he stuck around to teach and help spread the game we love.

Tim, you packed more fun, love, and excitement into your twenty three years than most people do in seventy! You had the guts to move to Hawaii and live the dream. You'll always be remembered in the Hawaii Lacrosse community. It was a pleasure to know you and play with you. See you on the other side....

Aloha,
John Keogh
