Round-robin play will take place on Saturday, Nov. 3rd and Sunday, Nov. 4th.
Each team will play every other team in its grouping, except Group D teams will play a minimum of two other teams from their group. All Saturday games will have 20 minute running time halves with the clock stopping when needed during the last two minutes of each half. On Sunday, the team with the best record in Group A will play the team with the best record in Group B, and the team with the best record in Group C will then play the team with the best record in Group D. The winners of these games will advance to the championship game. If two teams in a group have identical records, then the team that won the head to head match-up advances to the championship. If greater than two teams in a group have identical records, then the Director & Co-Director of the tournament will decide which team from that group advances to the semi-final. All games on Sunday will have 25 minute running time halves with the clock stopping when needed during the last two minutes of each half.

Crease Monkeys

TeTeam Goals: Lax, Re-Lax, and Get Lei'd- Two…. Team Motto: Great Times, Great Places, Great Friends & Great Lacrosse!!!!The Crease Monkeys have been looking forward to the 2001 Hawai'i Lacrosse Invitational since their last drink at Compadres in 2000. Player/Coaches Matt Cone & Harry Mazaheri have worked long and hard to bring together lacrosse players from the East & West Coasts (Japan, too!), as well as the professional and club leagues, to enjoy the spectacular environs of Hawaii, and to play and promote the sport they so enjoy. Almost all of last year's team is returning, with many new friends joining the roster. All are looking forward to meeting players from other areas of the country & overseas, and especially to making new friends! The team is lead by a number of players from the indoor professional league (NLL) and the outdoor professional league (MLL). Many of the players have received All American and other honors.

Michelob Light

Despite this being Michelob Light's first trip to the islands, the team brings quite a formidable crew. With five MLL players and a host of other collegiate standouts, Michelob Light has a serious shot at stealing the shark toothed trophy from Crease Monkeys. Ryan Powell and Randy Fraser will lead an offense full of threats. In addition, Mike Murphy's POWER D and the quick hands of former Hobart star Greg Prosner will keep things very tight on the defensive end. The first is always the sweetest, and Michelob Light is Extremely Excited about getting a Strong Taste of Aloha!

Marin Lacrosse Club

2000 Team
MaMarin returns to the tourney with a solid team of island vets and a few rookies sure to leave their mark. The team will be led on offense by brothers Lorne (Princeton) and Bryan Smith (Loyola), Peter Smith (Penn) and Matt Ogelsby (Duke). The defense is anchored by the outstanding trio of Christian Cook (New Jersey Pride), Jed Raymond (Bridgeport Barrage) and Sean Donnelly (Navy). Pat Brown returns as goalie after a year absence. The team has been practicing its off-field game plan for months in hopes of another successful weekend that few can remember. Aloha!

Olympic Lacrosse Club
The Olympic club is located in San Francisco, California and is the oldest athletic club in the United States of America. The Olympic Club won it's first Northern California Lacrosse Association Championship this past season since the championship's reincarnation five years ago. We look to carry that momentum forward at the 2001 Hawai'i Lacrosse Invitational. Our one goal loss in the 1999 Hawai'i Championship against a Marin team that included Casey Powell, Jesse Hubbard and John Hess has not been forgotten. While we hope to take the next step this year, our team will certainly have a blast regardless of what happens on the field. We greatly appreciate the Hawaii Lacrosse team's invitation to participate in the 2001 Hawaii Lacrosse Tournament. After a one year hiatus from the event, we are very enthused about making our fifth trip to their island paradise.

Barbary Coast Lacrosse Club
In the 1880's, there was a notorious area in San Francisco known as the Barbary Coast. Packed tight with bordellos and saloons, the Barbary Coast was a playground for the adventurers who had quested across the continent for golden riches, good booze and beautiful women. In the Barbary Coast, anything could happen, and the meek and timid did not venture there, for the Barbary Coast was well known for being rowdy and dangerous. Now, at the dawn of the new millenium, the Barbary Coast Lacrosse Club strives to ensure that this rowdy and dangerous spirit lives on. Like the gold-fevered 49ers of old San Francisco, the Barbary Coast L.C. quests forth for good booze, good lacrosse and beautiful women. This year's squad has a foundation of BC core players, with a fine complement of lads from the Pacific Northwest and the East Coast. "Keep an eye on em Lad! They could be packin the big guns down below the deck!!"

Hawai'i Lacrosse Club

2000 Team
Ten years of lax tournaments in Hawai'i, a very beautiful thang. Amazingly, a large number of players on this year's team played for our club in the inaugural tournament in 1991. Hawai'i is truly a fountain of youth for all. In fact, our starting attack unit, consisting of Jay 'Big Daddy' Bloom (Cornell), Harry Jackson (Army) and Jeff Kloetzel (Virginia), have started for us in each and every Hawai'i tournament. As you can imagine, these guys can feed each other in their sleep. We will be relying on them to keep finding the magic that helped the Hawai'i Lacrosse Club win the 1994 Western States Championship, 1994 Hawai'i Lacrosse Invitational and 1995 Tahoe Invitational.

Our veteran attack will not be without support however. Kenny Wessels (Air Force) is often unbelievable in the cage and has good shot at receiving the award as the top goalie in the tournament. In addition, Brendan Keaney (Duke '99), Raymond Gorman (Hawai'i) and Tom Frost (Hawai'i/Hempstead '96) have strong, young legs and will surely tally a number of goals. However, regardless of the outcome on the field, this year's tourney is sure to be a Blast. Many long time friends will be back in the Land of Aloha for the 10th Anniversary Celebration, and that's just what the tournament will be - a Fine Celebration of all the great times that have come to pass in the past ten year's and the many more fantastic days and nights that are sure to be a part of the next ten years of Hawai'i Lacrosse. Let the Games Begin!!!!

Team GB Lax
This is Year 5 for the Fun Bunch from the Islands - Islands of course being Vancouver Island and one guy from Hawai'i. Again, we're here to have Fun and hopefully, contend for the Championship, AND to have FUN. This year's week long lacrosse celebration looks particularly promising as we are bringing along our sister team, and some fans

Corillian
Most likely the "dark horse" of the Tournament, our roster and players are both mysterious and dangerous on the lacrosse field. Hailing from all over the country, Corillian may well be the most geographically diverse team in the Tourney. In addition, Corillian may, in fact, be the only international team bridging cultural barriers this year. Each member of this team has earned accolades for their talent; what matters is what is left on the field. With that said, there is nothing else to say but, "Behold, the 'Dark Horse'..."

North America All-Stars (aka "The Northern Alliance")

With the combined strength of the Stars and Stripes and the Maple Leaf, this coalition of North American players comes to Hawaii with the hopes of drinking island suds, meeting fine island ladies, trying not to get to burned by the island sun and perhaps even winning a lacrosse game or too. Our motto is....snow is a lot like sand...just colder..eh.

Japan East

Japan East brings a team with a ton of heart and slightly more experience than Japan West. The group is comprised wholly of U-20 players who are excited to once again represent their nation and the Japan Lacrosse Association. With the world games coming next summer, some Japan East players hope to use the Hawai'i tournament to springboard them onto the Japanese World Team and into Perth, Australia in July 2001.

Japan West

Japan West once again returns with a group of quick and determined U-20 All-Stars. The team hopes to build on last year's overtime victory over Ho'ohule. However, regardless of the game outcomes, Japan West will walk away from the tournament with outstanding experience, as the team will have a chance to square off against Crease Monkeys and its countless superstars.

Korea

Korea, still new to the game of lacrosse, will be sending a team to its first Hawaii tournament. We are made up of a bunch of players that are enthusiastic about developing their skills and experience. We are fortunate enough to pool some Korean-American talent to act as the backbone of the development process. We range from beginners to veterans, and the mix will prove to be valuable and fun for all. Some of the players are part of the first Korean National Lacrosse team preparing themselves for the 2002 World Championship Games in Perth; others are just trying to get a feel for what real lacrosse is.

Korea National Team members consist of the following players: Ed Chung (Bowling Green State University, Oh.), Blake Kim (U. Albany), Cort Kim (U. Albany), Choongwon Woo (Korea National University of Physical Education), Jun Son (Albright), Jae Hong Seo (Sung Kyun Kwan University), Kihak Hwang (VMI), Joongho Kwon (Pratt Institute), Hokyun Lee (Seungshil University). In addition to those players, we are excited to be joined by Michael Song (Lehigh), Peter Hurh (U. Virginia LC), Sooman Kim (U. Michigan LC), Wonsuk Lee, and Youngmin Cho.

The players are looking forward to the sun, beaches, local sights, festivities, getting acquainted with the locals and, of course, the lax. Lax is a big part of our lives; so we are Very Excited about playing several games against great teams no matter what odds we are up against.

Ten years of lax tournaments in Hawai'i, a very beautiful thang. Amazingly, a large number of players on this year's team played for our club in the inaugural tournament in 1991.
